Cath is knowledgeable, a good teacher and an excellent walking companion. I learnt a lot about my level of fitness and hill walking in general and would recommend a two day course to anyone who is contemplating a walking expedition.

From the walk up Jaggers clough onto Kinder Scout to Derwent Dam up onto Howden Ridge and miles further. To getting to see the lovely poem in Ronksley Cabin to signing the visitors book....Thanks for sharing the views from your office with me....Aching legs today, but with the 4 hills yesterday i`m not surprised.... Roll on the 3 peaks... Thanks again and hopefully be back soon.

What a great way to spend a weekend - two days of tough walking with Cath and Sara (above) Both of us have set challenges - Sara the 3 Peaks and for me the Coast to Coast and both of us gained confidence qute dramatically ovr the two days. The toughest part has been going back to work today (walking there and back - of course)- sitting in front of a computer - a poor exchange for those open spaces where we walked all day and hardly saw another person.

Cath made us believe that we had it in us to complete the tough course and we did. I will be back for more thats' for sure.

I cannot recommend Cath and Peak Walking Adventures enough. I would describe Cath as highly professional, extremely knowledgeable, very friendly, polite and very down to earth. From the outset Cath was incredibly helpful and was able to advise me on the best type of walk that would be suitable for my trek to Everest Base Camp - Cath seemed only too pleased to answer my many questions.

For anyone that’s nervous about the pace of walking, don’t be. Cath was very careful to let me go at a pace that was comfortable for me, and that’s not fast! I felt very ‘safe’ in Cath’s hands, reassured by the fact that she clearly knows her stuff and is well qualified. The 13/14 mile training walk I did was by no means a walk in the park but it was a great challenge and one which has given me confidence that I will have the ability to get to Everest Base Camp or am at least on the right track. I ache a lot but it’s a satisfying feeling!

Cath clearly cares about the environment and is very keen to give something back. Cath asks her customers for an optional donation to the charity ‘Friends of the Peak District’ (http://www.friendsofthepeak.org.uk/) and I think this is a lovely touch. Whilst the donation is optional, I was only too happy to support the charity, particularly since the entire experience I had was extremely good value for money. I would have been prepared to have paid more for Cath’s services and look forward to doing further training walks with her in the future.

We did the trek training day in for preparation for Kili in February.
A great walk in a splendid part of the world. With great local knowledge Cath was open and eager to share. Never was an opportunity to lose and gain altitude skipped! In fact, that was a good learning point for planning our future training walks, no point just walking on the flat. As our muscles ached, Cath informed us of one more hill, and all with a smile, (some suggested masochistically!)
Being part of a group of people I didn’t know was a bonus. Not just a nice bunch of people, which they were. In fact it reminds you on our on trek there will be those faster and slower. It was good to share issues, advice and experiences we all had in preparation for our various treks. You know the stuff you worry about; altitude, water purification, food etc.
And of course not forgetting that it was all round good fun. Thoroughly recommend.

I was on the same trek training day as Nigel. I was in the Peak District for the first time in ages and on business and had taken a couple of extra days to get some walking in. I'd surfed the net a couple of days before looking for some route recommendations and found Cath's website. I e-mailed her late one night and got a reply by 08:30 the next day and turned up on the Sunday.

What a quality day! A thoroughly professional guide: the information and joining instructions were excellent. The route was really well chosen and expertly guided by a very knowledgeable guide who really knows how to lead a group well and is sensitive to different experience and needs.

And, what great company I had. I could have planned a route for myself, but I am SO glad I made contact. A real, quality walking day. I'll be back to the Peak District and I'll be back to wlak with Cath.

Just wanted to say thanks again for the training walk, it was really useful and certainly helped prepare for the summit attempt up Kili, we managed to successfully get to the top, despite a snowstorm! the walk we did with you was really good preparation and helped us realise what we needed to be ready for.....

I just wanted to say a big thank you for yesterday. I had a fantastic day! It was extremely useful in preparation for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and I learnt so much. I loved all of your local knowledge and can't wait to do another walk with you.

I've just had 4 good days trek training with Cath(preparing for Nepal).
She knows how to push people (eg taking it faster up hills) but she is also very supportive if someone is struggling (eg help over styles or on particularly steep ground).
Cath clearly enjoys her work ans is knowledgeable about the Peak District.
Hard work (which I needed) but good fun.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Really enjoyed the walk and it was invaluable training and a great opportunity to get tips and pick the brains of the others pre Kili. Thank you again.

I have just completed a second one day training walk under Cath's guidance, and would recommend it to anyone - whether they are looking for a strenuous training walk or even just an enjoyable walk through magnificent scenery with someone who knows the area and is able to pass on interesting information (such as how various rock formations came about and how to identify 'pixie-cup'!).
The training walk was very well planned, with sufficient ascents, descents and miles to challenge us, with timely breathers to enable conversation between newly found friends.
All in all, I recommend Peak Walking Adventures to anyone. Thank you Cath, I'll be back soon!

Thanks so much! The training with Peak Walking Adventures paid off. We were 2nd and 3rd to reach Machu Picchu after 4 days trekking, out of a group of 16 most of whom were younger than us!

6 months ago, in what can only be described as a moment of madness, I booked myself onto a charity trek in Peru next April. 2 days ago I walked 13 miles in The Peak District with Cath in preparation for Peru and am so so glad I did. I openly admitted to being terrified before we set off but I had no reason to be - Cath (and the other members of the group that day) was lovely and offered good advice in a supportive and encouraging way allowing me to find my own style. From a training perspective her original route was fantastic and the later decision to add in another hill was perfect as it pushed me just that little further but it was also a fun (!) day out and something that I would want to do again even if I didn't have a challenge to train for! I've already booked another day out with Cath and recommended her to the rest of the group that I will be travelling to Peru with! Oh, and I'm not terrified this time - in fact I'm really looking forward to it!

All you City dwellers! Roll up! Roll up!!

If you have ever contemplated taking a walking holiday in The Peak District then you have to do so with Peak Walking Adventure and with Cath the guide. Our small group was competently guided by Cath who was aware of the different level of each walker in the group, Cath was perfectly in tuned with each one in her group, in fact she made all of us feel special (that’s an admirable skill in-it-self), she pushed those who needed pushing and gently encouraged me.

For many years, I have dreamt of walking in The Peak District but somehow my busy City life refused to allow my indulgence, I made a drastic decision, researched and found my perfect walking holidays, in the Peak District and Derbyshire Dales and found Peak Walking Adventures. I closed my eyes and promptly booked my birthday treat! Yes!! You read correctly I booked Cath’s walk for a special birthday treat to myself! A total City girl that has never been on a walking holiday before, not EVER!

When I met Cath & our small group for the first time, I was apprehensive! Knots in my stomach! I was about to turn round and bolt! But the challenger in me, stood firm, as soon as we started Cath with her gentle soothing golden voice just melted all my worries away, she was so in tune with the land, an exceptionally knowledgeable guide!

Thanks to Cath and my encouraging friendly group, who all contributed to making my birthday ultra special we climbed 4 hills! I shall remember the walk with my comrades for ever! It was hard, challenging but worth every moment! The beauty of the National Park - Peak District was breathtaking, if you get the opportunity don’t hesitate book you’re walking holiday with Cath immediately!

Of course my walk, had its agreeable side effects - I promptly come back to the hotel and slept for 13hrs! Not a norm for me! My partner was amazed! Bless him - he obliged, without complaint or comment on my slumber indulgence! 4 days after, the aches and pains have gone but my memories with Peak Walking Adventure are sharp and clear. Ho! What a perfect birthday!

Cath thank you so much - you’re the best!

And to my comrades on the walk thank you for all you support, encouragement and laughter we had a lot of fun, I couldn’t have made it without you all!

Cath, I shall definitely walk with you again and again and again LOVED IT!

Thank you for a great trek training day on Sunday with Bob. It was certainly a challenge but I loved every minute so much I've booked to join you on 21st April. Thanks for making me believe that I will actually manage my trek to the Himalayas in May. Your training days are invaluable!

Had a great 'first' training walk in the Peak District last weekend. Our guide, Bobby, was very knowledgeable and informative. Looking forward to the next one on the 13th May...!

Anyone contemplating doing the National 3 Peaks challenge needs to do the training, you must not underestimate the task ahead. I've just completed my 3 Peaks & the 3 training exercises I did with Cath was the best thing I ever did. You get to understand your level of fitness & what kit you need, the training isn't a walk in the park, it's tough but that's what you need. I got to the top of all the peaks 1st out of my party, so if you don't want to let the side down do the training! I saw plenty of people being ill, freezing & unable to make it, you do want to be one of those do you?
